FEATHERED
While I like birds, I don't often have a lot of them. I'm not great at putting up with that much noise inside the house. When I lived on property I had a lot of roosters and other poultry in a small rooster rescue, but I currently can't have any.

Parakeet
Sprite the Parakeet
I got a pair of parakeets as adults in August 2018. The blue male is named Sprite and his partner's name was Elf.
Neither parakeet were hand-tamed and truly, both were terrified of anything that was a change from their normal. Even months after adding it, they still wouldn't even go to the side of their cage with a coconut hide. The only thing they weren't afraid of is what they should be, the cats. Humans, vegetables, new toys, bigger cages, they are all far too terrifying.
He is a little braver than his partner Elf was, but that's not saying much. When I attempted to upgrade their cage by placing the too small one into the bigger one he did eventually come out, only to get too confused on how to get back inside the smaller cage. Coaxed back through the door, he eventually came out again only to once more get confused and panicked. It didn't work out well. Sprite came out but freaked when he couldn't get back in. Elf refused to come out at all.
I'm hoping to eventually put together a better cage for them as theirs is a bit too small, but I worry about how he'll adjust to that big of a change. I'd also like to get a few more parakeets to keep Sprite company as his partner Elf passed away and parakeets should never be kept alone.
I'll try again in the future.

Duck

Baby Huey the Duckling
Baby Huey is a duckling we're hoping survives. He was attacked by a bunch of children at a local pond, then picked up and thrown by a mean goose. His skin was ripped and it looked like he'd lose at least one eye, but he's healing up better than even our best hopes.
We're looking for a friend for him, but haven't had any luck finding a safe one, so right now he's just getting a lot of attention and becoming a bit of a diva.
